Display driver stopped responding and has recovered, shows wrong drive

My last fix with Avast lasted 10 days then same fault.
Tried both Microsoft's fixes with regedit and that lasted another week before the same fault.
What has lasted so far with Farcry is to play offline with Steam disabled.
I am loath to say that this is the definitive fix as the fault seems to have occurred with various graphics cards and versions of windows over very many months but for me, so far, I have not had a fault report for nearly 6 weeks.

I'd just like to mention that since removing Avast and relying solely on Windows Defender, I have had no repetition of my earlier problems and, touch wood, no nasties. I am, however, careful which web sites I visit and don't open unknown e-mails.

Been reading this whole thread now and will try some of the options on my Lenovo y 50-70 to fix my intel graphic issues. I´m getting this problem when using multiple screens and web-streaming service. Could it maybe be happening beacuse of flash software that´s not up to date?
