Windows 10 upgrade - two problems.

I updated my Acer Aspire 5551-A Laptop from Windows 7 yesterday, took 8.5 hours but seems to work well except for Windows Live Mail. I have two live.co.uk e.mail addresses that still work, but my wife's, and four old hotmail.com accounts produce this error message -Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail account.
    Server Error: 3204 Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE2000

Using a Microsoft fix said it had sorted a delta sync error, but the e.mails still don't work

More importantly, My Medion Akoya E4059 Desktop has been a complete nightmare. After the upgrade from Windows 8.1, the screen resolution was all wrong. I resized the Icons but the text was too large still, so I tried a few different screen resolutions and ended up with a message on screen telling me that the new settings weren't suitable, and that's all I could see. Spent most of the night trying to get into safe mode via the Bios, and tried everything I could think of, booting from installation disc, restoring, reverting etc, but nothing has worked (I'm not very technical but usually manage). Now I am going back to a previous build, been 2 hours so far. If that doesn't work looks like a clean install of Windows 8. Will update later, but any suggestions in the meantime will be appreciated.

Just in case anyone has the problem with Windows Live Mail 2011, I solved this by setting up the affected hotmail and live accounts in the new windows 10 Mail, verified each account, and then they worked in Live Mail 2011. So that part is solved.
Still have my Medion Desktop going back to previous build. seriously don't think anything is happening.

And the second problem, finally got there, back to Windows 8.1, nothing seems to be lost. so solved my own problems, as usual.

The Medion uses an AMD APU (A10-5700). At a guess, Windows 10 gave you generic drivers for it. (Those tend to give the wrong resolution). The latest drivers are here:

People have had issues with AMD's Windows 10 drivers, but I trust they're sorted by now.

As regards Windows Live Mail, I've been using that for a while in the Preview builds of Windows 10, and, as of yesterday, in the released version. No problems with either Gmail or the account with my ISP (Comcast). Both use IMAP for the incoming mail.

Are you really using Windows Live Mail 2011? The newest version available is 2012.

Thanks for your reply bobkn - yes I agree that AMD drivers are the problem, I gradually realised this as the day went on. Not much I could do about it though till I got my computer working again. Thanks for the link to AMD driver update, currently downloading that.
My desktop reverted to Windows 8.1. I was going to leave it at that for now but it started the Windows 10 download again, so I went along with it, everything is ok now except for the display, which hopefully will be good in a short while.
I assumed I was using the same Windows Live mail on my laptop and desktop, but apprently the version on my laptop is still 2011. I'll have a look at that tomorrow. All e.mail now working ok on both machines.
    Thanks again for your help.

Acer Aspire 5551 windows 10 installation problems

Hello all, I'm new to this forum & wondered if anyone could help me upgrading my Acer Aspire 5551 laptop from Windows 7 Home to Windows 10.
I received the windows 10 notification icon but didn't wait for Microsoft just downloaded windows 10 from a link I found. Initially the install stalled at 75% so I reverted back to 8.1 which I had successfully upgraded to earlier this year. The laptop then had display issues which I couldn't resolve so reinstalled 7. Tried installing 10 again & this time all went well & I enjoyed windows 10 for two hours when the lap top crashed & just kept asking for the previous installation disc which obviously I did not have. Went back to 7 & tried again with windows 10. The operating system loaded but was unusable, very slow, just kept hanging & saying Wait one moment. I have now reinstalled 7.
Is it possible to run Windows 10 on the Acer Aspire 5551? or am I wasting my time?
Your help would be much appreciated.
    Regards
