Can anyone confirm what happens if you run the set up app in the $Windows.~BT folder?
I'd be too skeered to try it! :)

I have the windows-bt folder on a 32 bit win 8.1, wonder when it will install?
If you're an Insider, probably tomorrow. If not, nobody's quite sure yet.

I have both a desktop & a laptop PC. Both are Windows 7-64bit.

$Windows.~BT has downloaded on my desktop but not yet on my laptop. Maybe its because I didn't reserve a copy for the laptop until last week. But, can the $Windows.~BT be copied into my laptop PC & upgrade it?
I didn't upgrade my Lappy 17 until a few days ago . . . yet it's already downloaded over 4 GB worth of stuff and has the Windows BT folder.

Desktop was upgraded a few days earlier than the laptop and since I've been using it today, it didn't start its downloading until awhile ago.

I reserved a copy about an hour ago on my Win8.1 macbook air and the windows-bt folder showed up within minutes (all downloaded and ready now).
Hmph! Microsoft shoulda told the silly thing to wait its turn! Imagine! Putting a Mac in front of all us faithfuls! :)

Sorry, just kidding, John. Probably jealous because Macs hate me! 'Sides, I couldn't afford one anyway.

I never use it as a mac, it's just the best bit of kit for weight and battery life when traveling

If it didn't start already you should be getting files for upgrade soon. Midnight Redmond time you should get offer to confirm upgrade and end up with Windows 10 Home x64 if you agree and everything goes right. It will be activated instead of W7.
You'll have 30 days to revert automatically to W7 if you so wish and do not remove "windows.old" folder that will be made by the upgrade process.
See if you have $Windows.~BT folder in your C: drive, you may need to enable "Show hidden files and folders" and disable "Hide protected system files" in Control panel > Folder options > View, to see it.

For those confused about the delta (I think Jimbo posted about it somewhere) - it relates to the components that each update fixes. Eg. the Windows10.0-KB3074682 patch caused explorer to crash - KB3074683 was released as a fix and the properties of explorer now show the updated delta:
    Attachment 26265

The registry takes the delta from the kernel:

    Attachment 26269
    Interesting...
    component build
    Explorer 16405
    NToskrnl 16393

I read yesterday that 16405 is the Current Build for Day One.
Day one patch for Windows 10 features over 1GB of fixes and improvements (download links)
Those upgrading will actually download 10240.16384 alongside the day one patch handsomely titled KB3074683, and will be applied automatically during the upgrade so by the time the consumer lands on the desktop, they'll be running 10240.16405.
They author got the KB wrong though - KB3074683 fixes what KB3074681 broke. c'est la vie!

What does msinfo32 tell you on your machine. Curiosity only ... I'm waiting to upgrade until Redstone in Q1 2016.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Yup, you get an error saying boot.wim is missing.
