It suppose to be a rolling release, insider first unless they already have it-we will see. If it wasn't for the possibility of storms here during the day. I would let you know if I get it that day. If no storms are expected after 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, and Microsoft already downloaded 10. I would go ahead and install it and post info when I can.

If that is so, and my computer says that my copy of Win10 is activated, I should have a valid win10 license, correct? "If this is a consular ship, where is the ambassador?" Where is my Win 10 license?

Not according to this article: When is the Windows 10 free upgrade released? - Telegraph

Maybe a few will get lucky, but definitely not all.

Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users can pre-register for their free Windows 10 upgrade by clicking the Windows logo that will have appeared on the right-hand side of their taskbar:

However, clicking the button does not necessarily mean they will get Windows 10 on 29 July. The update will first be rolled out to the 4.4 million people who have taken part in the Windows Insider programme.

Microsoft will then begin notifying people who have reserved their copy of Windows 10 in waves, slowly scaling up after 29 July. Once a copy becomes available, Microsoft will scan the user's computer to check it is compatible, and then download Windows 10 automatically.

Downloads are going on today but that final bit of code to start activation is July 29. Some countries may already have gotten their install notification popup. Downloads go on in the background and you won't even notice it.

mabey I'm lost.....when we get our FREE copy of Win10, will they just upgrade what we have now and make it win 10 or will I loose everything that's on my hd by overwriting, except Win10. Like all my Documents, pics, download files, programs already installed, AMD drivers....la de da? Guess its time to at least clone what I have now and I can drag it back later?

Cloning your current drive is not a bad idea. You are not suppose to loose anything with a upgrade even if the install fails it will revert back to your current OS but things do happen.
