    Microsoft Account and Syncing

I have often wondered what happens when you upgrade Windows with regards to syncing settings etc.

For Windows 10 I don't want to find that I am syncing settings from older versions of Windows or from Windows 10 beta.

So how do I ensure that for the first install of Windows 10 I get a clean default settings and then after that sync the Windows 10 settings from then on?

Turn off sync on previous iteration of 10, go to https://onedrive.live.com/ and:

In addition, on all machines using the same MS Account as a Windows sign-in account, turn the individual sync settings off.

Personally I like the idea of my settings being sync'd for installation. My first experience with it was:

I got my laptop in early 2011 and it came with Win7. In 2014 I wanted to buy Win8(.1) here in town, but there wasn't any install media to buy(I went to all PC shops and a big chain store called Media Markt but no one had any).

So when Microsoft offered Win10 to test ride/preview, I jumped on the bandwagon in October, and installed it/played with it.

I eventually bought me a desktop with Win8.1 and on first install(had never used it before mind you) while setting up the desktop and updating-- I had the same desktop. You can imagine my surprise and glee at having a (somewhat) familiar desktop to start from.

I feel this is one of the greatest innovations Microsoft has ever implemented

Thanks guys. I fully plan to use syncing once I'm settled in Windows 10. I just wanted the full default 10 experience

I currently have syncing off on 8.1
