Sorry to hear that. You may want to try clearing the jump lists by deleting the files in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations and changing the jump list size when they are empty. I'm not sure what else may have made it work.

Well, you cracked your code (and I'm happy for you), but it is not a universal solution. I never had EnableXamIJumpView as a key, and still can't get any jump list to show more than ten items on the task bar.
Also, have you tried actually "pinning" more than 10 files onto a jumplist? I only get 11 or 12 "recent" files on a jumplist regardless of the size set in the registry, but if I actually pin more, then the list extends.

But, if you can't see the files to pin them, how do you pin them? For example, in my word processing program's jumplist, there are 11 documents...but if I open another one (even in File Explorer, it doesn't show in the program's jumplist, so I can't pin it there.

You can drag files onto the application icon in the task bar to pin them. For example, if you are pinning documents to Word, you can drag .docx files from explorer to the Word icon on the task bar.

    That's true.

I have a fresh win10 pro instalment and is looking for the same solution. Problem is my limit is 6 applications. Talked to MS support and they told the limit is 6 and can't be change.

I did not have Start_JumpListItems or EnableXamlJumpView in my list (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced). I tried adding Start_JumpListItems and setting a value of 10, but it did not work after reboot.

    Default list.

Try manually adding both keys, restart Explorer and then try manually drag more than 6 files into their corresponding taskbar application.

To further confuse this discussion: on both my laptop and my desktop, my max number of pinned items seems stuck at 12. If I unpin one of my currently-pinned items, one of the items I had pinned under Windows 8.1 now appears at the bottom of the list of pinned items. If I try to pin one of the recent items at the bottom, nothing happens.
On my laptop, I see a max of 11 recent items, which subsumes the entire height of the screen.
On my desktop, I see a max of 6 recent items, which does _not_ subsume the entire height of the screen.
Increasing my HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced). I tried adding Start_JumpListItems to 30; seemed to do nothing.
I have to admit I have no clue as to what's going on. Sigh.
I should also note that I just forced my desktop to, despite MS saying I should wait, to upgrade from 8.1 to 10. I suspect they would say for me to wait forever as my PC is from endpcnoise.com and thus not on the list of "approved" PCs.
Kudos to the Win10 team: upgrades have been painless. I've been using Microsoft operating systems since I switched from CP/M to MS-DOS, and this is by far the easiest upgrade. And, as a UI/UX dweeb, there are many subtle little things about Win10 that make me very happy to see this new OS.

Exactly the same here. Cleaned out jumplists and rebooted in between. But no value in Start_JumpListemItems lets me 'see' more than 12 (I know more are there because if I unpin one, the list remains at 12).

I also have no entry for EnableXamlJumpView.

One other thing that was in JumpLists in 8.1 and missing in 10: ability to drag-and-drop to sort your jumplist items. I can't do that any more and I miss it terribly.
