I get this bug too, explorer keeps opening in a new cascaded position even though there is no other instance of Explorer open.

Eventually Explorer will open at the very bottom of the screen and then next time will start again opening at the very top of the screen.

Another really basic thing that doesn't work in this OS.

If I use win+shift+up arrow on chrome, outlook, etc., it won't remember that position when I reopen. Is there a fix for this? I hold control when closing, etc and nothing will save a window that's flush with the top and bottom, but space on the sides.

Hi everyone I'm new around here. I registered just to say to @Edwin that I'm not happy with you, not one bit. You lied to me, you lied straight to my face. I never thought someone would lie on the internet, but it did happen. I read your comment and immediately I join the Windows Insider program just to get the latest build and stop my windows from jumping all over the place. Now I'm on build 10547, typing this inside Firefox window which takes up 75% of my screen, just the way I like it. Guess what happens if I maximize this Firefox window and then I un-maximize it again? Does it go back to its old position and does it have the same same 75% size? No, of course not, why would it, it jumps a bit off of the edge of the screen and changes window size. Same thing happens if I go full screen on a YT video and then go back out of full screen.

Now @Edwin, explain yourself please. Is the same not happening to you? Why is my build special then? I'm holding you personally responsible and until my Windows 10 is fixed, you will be haunted by the screams of a mad man whos OCD and the desire to have application windows maintain size and position are making him, well they're making him scream. Do you really want that on your conscience?

That's not really a solution though. Can someone at least tell me if this is considered a bug or is it working as intended? Is Microsoft aware of the issue?

If you have Ccleaner then delete the Window Size/Location Cache(When you open and close Windows Explorer, Windows records folder settings for window position, sort order, columns, folder type, toolbar toggles, and search result views). Then it will/should start from zero and rebuild as you use windows.

Hi, thanks for the reply. This would fix Windows Explorer, right? I'm actually having problems with other programs, like Firefox and Chrome. Is there any chance of a fix for them? You can actually read more about this issue over here:
Application windows change size and position on Windows 10 - Super User

I think that the window manager used in all the previous versions of Windows has been replaced by this monstrosity that's very annoying. I'm even thinking about going back to Windows 8.1, since I no longer have the Windows.old folder of Windows 8, I can't go back easily via the Control Panel, I have to do a reinstall from a DVD/USB, right?

File Explorer is more than just a file manager, it also controls the memory of where a window was/is, but it will only work if the 3rd party program uses windows API's. With your problem of Firefox I don't have it, whether I open it change size/placement, minimize, maximize, return-- it always goes to last size and place.
