    System requirements

If you want to upgrade to Windows 10 on your PC or tablet, here’s what it takes.

    • Latest OS: Make sure you are running the latest version either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.

Finally received answer on my long standing query:
Title: Windows 10 upgrade and insider program

    Reply
I have been in Insider program from beginning and used W10 TP on one SSD with dual boot to 8.1 on another SSD. I intend to stay in Insider program on that first disk but also to upgrade 8.1 to W10 final.
Is it possible or will I have to relinquish Insider Program ?
Yes, you can keep both and maintain your status in the Windows Insider Preview Program.
In other words, will I be able to stay as insider on one disk AND upgrade to W10 on other disk on same desktop computer in dual BOOT ?
    Yes, you can.
I have used same MS account for both.

    No problem doing that.

W10 Prof and W8.1 Home (Single Language), multiboot. What in this case?

Each one stays as it is now apparently. Keep 10 Pro as insider and when you upgrade 8.1 you'll get Home version of W10 on that disk.

Where was it said that "! (the others require using the ISO to upgrade, but its still free)" can upgrade... I have only seen, from Microsoft, you MUST have Win7SP1 & Win8.1U to upgrade, nothing about "except if you use an ISO"?
Read the very first post in this thread. Here's the chart (again, been posted tons of times in different threads) Notice how it shows which upgrades use Windows update, and which use the ISO.

I can confirm the upgrading works for non-insiders that use build 10240 at least it does for me, not sure if it will work for others.

Thanks for reminding me, I forgot about that chart. Microsoft is posting the GWX path the most so the other paths just fall into the back ground forgotten I guess

I have a W10 release iso and USB. Should I use these to update my insider copy or will I eventually get a normal windows update?
