How will the windows 10 preview upgrade work if the insiders a pro...?

How will the windows 10 preview upgrade work if the insiders a pro version?

Since you can upgrade or install windows 10 rtm from Windows 10 preview.

For example, some here may have upgrade from a home to windows 10 preview pro? So, will the upgrade downgrade your windows 10 pro preview version to windows 10 rtm home or will you still have pro installed?

Why do you keep asking these questions when it's clear that the answers are not known? You have the same information we have.

I didn't say it was the same questions. I said "These questions", as in "questions about how the upgrade will work". We won't know until RTM or until MS releases more information. Everything else is just a guess.

I'm running 8.1 Core and 10 Pro. I know my 8.1 will be upgraded to a similar version of 10. As to 10 itself, I have absolutely no expectation or reason to believe that Microsoft will just give me a free license. I would expect any upgrade to RTM they may give me to have a limited life and not include a valid license.

I think taking a wait and see perspective is best right now. All we're doing is pulling together small snips from tweets and it's far from a full answer to the questions we have. MS will let us know, soon I hope and then we can go from there.

    Until then:

About 50% (or more?) of posts on this site are made up of guesses, wild guesses, wishful thinking and bad-mouthing of MS

Be really good when the definitive answers come from the horse's mouth.

But, like Bunny, I am keeping calm and carrying on!

MS hasn't even officially confirmed that the Tech Preview can be converted to Retail.......just that the Tech Preview is continuing to (and maybe past) RTM.

Therefore, there's a chance that MS will have testers preview RTM, then before July 29th, disable the Tech Preview licence and flash a message saying "lol tech preview's over so format or gtfo".

So follow the bunny's advice and wait until MS says something. The ONLY thing MS has confirmed so far is that Windows 10 is releasing on July 29th.

Microsoft hasn't laid out the exact details of how the upgrade from the TP to RTM will go. You already know that so why keep asking questions that have no answers?

If you upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 you'll get the matching version. 8.1 Core got me 10 Home, 7 Ultimate got me 10 Pro etc. That's what I'll get when I go to RTM. If you clean install you get Pro. Its already been stated that to go from the TP to the RTM you'll need a valid Windows 7 or 8.1 license. Logic tells me that would be 7 Pro or higher, or 8.1 Pro if you want to keep your 10 Pro. Otherwise your going down to 10 Home.
