Wow! This post is long and very confusing. I agree with the suggestion of running setup exe from the mounted ISO and do a repair install. A whole lot less confusing.

NavyLCDR: I followed your instructions. I deleted the old stuff and also more files so I now have 35GB of free space.

In my case the virtual drive letter is L: I mounted the iso from a folder in Documents to where it was downloaded to. I opened the CMD as administrator (you didn't mention admin. but I did that anyway). I entered "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:L:\Sources /LimitAccess " and it began to run and immediately held at 20% for 13 minutes and my C: drive was being accessed. After 13 minutes it quickly went to 100% and stated " Error 0x8000f081f The source files could not be found. Use the "source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. ..." Please advise.

    I just noticed this:
DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image - Windows 10 Forums

Mount the ISO file and try:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:L:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

    or
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:L:\sources\install.wim:2 /limitaccess

Assuming your mounted ISO file still gives you drive letter L:

Thanks very much for those suggestions. I tried both of NavyLCDR's commands and the results were exactly the same as the one tried before them. What do you suggest next?

" I agree with the suggestion of running setup exe from the mounted ISO and do a repair install. " Is this a different approach?

    Hi,

I tried both of NavyLCDR's commands and the results were exactly the same as the one tried before them.
    That's really odd.

With the ISO file mounted in L: could you run the following from CMD Admin ?

    Code:
    dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:L:\sources\install.wim /index:1
From what I recall your current version of Win 10 is 1511, correct ?

    Cheers,

    Hi,

I don't understand why it can't repair these files....

" I agree with the suggestion of running setup exe from the mounted ISO and do a repair install. " Is this a different approach?
I view it at a last resort solution but it seems we have no further options. Maybe @NavyLCDR has some ideas left.

In the meantime would the errors list from the result of SCF /Scannow help point to possible solutions?

    Hi,

    That may help for sure.

You could also try running the DISM command when in Safe Mode and see if that helps any.
WIN + R > msconfig.exe > "Boot" > check "Safe Boot" and reboot the machine.

    Cheers,

Ok. I have a CBS.log file for when I tried the install. I Don't see the SFC log file in CBS. There is a CBS.persist_.....log. Both seem to state about "installing" and files for repair. It's pretty long and I'm not sure how to post it here.

"You could also try running the DISM command when in Safe Mode and see if that helps any.
WIN + R > msconfig.exe > "Boot" > check "Safe Boot" and reboot the machine. " To clarify, you want me to reboot into safe mode, then open the cmd window and run what - one of NavyLCDR's suggested commands?
