Thank you for the clear and insightful reply. Pity, this information is not being made more readily available.
There are literally a billion questions people could ask, of very complexity with various permutations. It's impossible for there to be a list of every possible question anyone would want to know.

Anyone tried a Dell Optiplex 780 with E8400 cpu. It ought to work but you never know with Dell!

This has been visited before: Let's run Win10 on really really old hardware - Windows 10 Forums

The bottom line is 32-bit Intel Pentium 4 processors of around 10 or 11 years ago, with DEP, SSE2, PAE etc., (all the parameters that are needed to run Windows 8.1) will run Windows 10 10130 x86 perfectly adequately, but nobody has yet offered any information on AMD processors.

Some AMD processors of the same era may have difficulty running Windows 8.1:
Microsoft confirms some older AMD processors do not support Windows 8.1

    - but this problem for Windows 8.1 affects x64 versions only. By logical extrapolation, these systems will not run Windows 10 x64 either, but these processors may run X86 versions.

You are correct. Thank you. Hopefully, between these two threads (and possibly others) those seeking guidance on their old and perfectly usable processors running Windows-7 will know whether or not they can run Windows-10.
