Increasing system partition to accomodate windows 10 update

    Hi,
I'm trying to increase the System Reserved partition to accommodate the anniversary update of windows 10 but in between the OS partition and the System Reserved partition is another 128mb partition that I cannot label or resize, its full. So I can't add the space I've taken from the OS partition to the System Reserved partition. Does anyone know what the 128mb partition is? I thought about taking space from the Win RE tools partition but I don't really know how big this needs to be or how big the System Reserved partition needs to be to accommodate the update. I was going to make it 500mb.

    Any ideas?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't move the EFI system partition to the 401mb unallocated space after the infamous 128 MB Microsoft Reserved partition. Nothing requires the EFI system partition to be in any particular spot on the hard drive.

P.S. - I've got 6 Windows 10 computers at my house with UEFI and GPT disks running just fine without that 128MB MSR partition. It's not 100% full. It's 100% unusable - that is what MiniTool is reporting.

The partition program won't increase the size though so I assumed it would to be next to the allocated space on the drive map?

It won't increase the size of it until you move it to the 401mb unallocated space. Then you can increase the size to 401MB once it is moved into that space.

Kudos to you! I've been reading a lot of conflicting info about deleting the 128mb partition and that seems to have worked!

Thanks for your swift help :)

No problem . And for those who swear the MSR partition is 100% required on every GPT disk (because MS says so) - please note that I did not advise r4dly to delete it. I only posted a link to an article and stated the fact that I have 6 computers running just fine without it.

Lol, I take full responsibility for my actions. I've been trying to get an answer from the MS forum for weeks and just go around in circles, they are very unhelpful.
