I have seen loads of post about black screens but none of the solved ones sort my problem out. I have tried to update my graphics card. After it tried to install it said it failed. I restarted my computer but before it came to the login screen my screen goes black with the mouse icon into a working circle icon and flicking between that and the natural mouse icon.
Any help would be appreciated.

I created a windows 10 file via microsoft website onto a usb stick. Plug this into my computer and press f12 and selected usb hdd and i restored to an earlier restore point. Works fine now! :)
That is indeed a great fix. Not just the right fix, but also the easiest one to implement. Count your blessings that this fix turned out to solve your problems. Raises an interesting question, though: what graphic card/driver combination led to the black screen's appearance? From your specs I see you've got a NVIDIA GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card; was it the latest version 375.57 that did your PC in? Other people may want to know, so please share the pertinent details. And while you're at it, please tell us who made your graphics card, or confirm that you have an Nvidia card direct from Nvidia itself.
