    MSconfig problem

HELP - Win 10 - Checked msconfig box to boot in safe mode - rebooted system and now I can not get past the Splash screen - can not get in safe mode nor normal - hit space bar and Login screen does not come up. Boot from a Win 10 Boot Disk - do not get options screen, where I would tell it to boot in safe mode. Attempted restore to previous - but can not do - starts but then tells me something prevented it to restore to previous

    bearlatvia,

    Welcome to the forum!

Can you tell us what Boot disk are you using?

Also, what were the circumstances for which you wanted to boot to Safe Mode?

??? Microsoft Win 10 Boot disk --- the reason I tried to boot to safe mode was because Quick Books gave me an error message and I wanted to see if I would get it in safe mode

Any Idea what the file name is that stores the msconfig.exe parameters? --- I have a backup of my System , but it is about 7 months old. If I could overwrite the file that stores the msconfig parameters I might be OK

    bearlatvia,

In my opinion, at this point the best you can do is Repair your computer by reaching the Advanced Options:

Insert a Windows 10 DVD or a flash drive with the Windows installation files on it into the troubled computer.
Boot from the DVD or the USB flash drive.
    Select the Repair your computer
    Select: Troubleshoot
    Select: Advanced Options

In Advanced Options, select: Startup Repair

It is supposed to fix problems that keep Windows from loading.

In the Advanced Options, there is also a Command Prompt (CP).
You can try to access msconfig.exe by selecting the CP, going to C:\, and entering: Start msconfig
However, have no clue what will happen, or if you will get there from Advanced Options, since you are just operating from a boot disk.
