    dxdiag update system OEM info

    Howdy,

    Opening dxdiag.exe will show up system info and also BIOS and OEM info.

    There are 2 fields shown here which must be filled by OEM:

    * System Manufacture

    * System Model

    I found that the above 2 strings are stord in :: HKLM\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\BIOS

    So I have changed the value of "SystemManufacturer" & "SystemProductName" to my desired OEM Brand & Model.

    But it is not reflected on dxdiag windows, even after restart.

    P.S. Must be done via registry.

    Any clue?

    Thanks.

    I believe Dxdiag is obtaining this information from other sources, such as the hardware and BIOS, and cannot be overriden by the registry. Changing this would require advanced programming. Not at all practical.

    Edit: and probably in violation of Microsoft's EULA as well.

    That information is put in the BIOS (flashed) by the manufacturer. It is not related to Microsoft.
    It would require editing the BIOS itself. Not an easy task without the right knowledge, etc.

    There used to be a couple of files put on by OEMs in Windows that showed company info and the company Logo. It's been awhile since I've even looked for them.

    I think you are talking about this. These do not show in DXdiag though.
