File Explorer Drag and Drop doesn't work

    Hello,

when I try to drag and drop a file using file explorer, it shows a red "unavailable" icon. I also haven't found a way to disable the annoying time and date text at the bottom left of the lock screen (which was easily done in Windows 8.1 as documented on eightforums).

I've attached pictures of both personal nuisances. :)

    Thanks!

EDIT: The drag and drop problem is fixed by re-enabling Quick Access, see Brink's guide here. Lock screen remains an annoyance, though.

Date & time: MS comment which you may have seen:

You could consider eliminating the lock screen (there are different ones).

The red icon shown is perfectly reasonable there. What do you see if you drag that into the right pane as shown? You should get a warning message when you release the mouse.

    Thanks for the response.

I indeed have seen that thread, but I imagined that such modifications are only a regedit hack away -- it has just not been found perhaps.

I cannot imagine it being reasonable, I should be able to drag using the left pane into any folder I choose. This was functional in previous Windows.

To be exact, it's not allowing you copy the folder into itself. You can into any other in the navigation pane.

Look at the message you get if you try to drop Mettu from the navigation pane into Mettu in the right pane.

I am not copying a folder into itself, but a folder from the desktop into downloads. From left to right works as it should. No problem though, I had disabled quick access via registry earlier and enabling it solved my problem. Thanks for the help.

Ah, I see. I made an assumption about that. Sorry. And I couldn't have guessed the answer. Glad you recalled what you'd done.
