grey band in images

when I download my images to a folder and open each one up I get a grey band at the top of each image.You can see the image behind the grey band but obviously i would like to have the whole image clear,the grey band is not there in photoshop.What can I do

I presume you are opening the images with Windows 10's default viewer: 'Photos'. If so, the grey bar at the top is not part of the image itself, it is actually Photo's 'actions menu'. Click anywhere on the image to hide it, click again to make it reappear.

thanks ,is there anyway i can turn off that default actions menu such that i can copy all the images bar free into another folder

You don't need to. At no time is the grey bar part of the image file. However you copy it to another folder it won't have the grey bar in it. Personally I use File Explorer to select one or more images then copy (or cut) and paste into my chosen destination folder.

Thanks ,its just annoying for my clients to show the images with that grey band.Its there even when i copy /paste an image via internet explorer to another destination folder and also when I transfer the folder to a D.V.D.I did not have this problem last week,is it just to do with Windows 10 and is there no way I can disable the grey band

Not in the default viewer 'Photos' AFAIK. But you could try another viewer. The old Win7-style Windows Photo Viewer is still available (though well hidden).
