Is there a way to download a Windows 10 app from Microsoft without having a Microsoft account? Al I need is the "XBOX Accessories" Windows 10 app to map out my xbox one controller and more importantly update the controller, but it seems I need to log in to download it which is ridiculous. I'd rather not have to sign up for an account that up to now I've never needed.
You must sign in to store with a Microsoft account to be able to download apps. There's no way to go around it.
Creating a Microsoft account takes a minute. Just be sure that you do not accidentally switch your Windows 10 sign-in local user account to a Microsoft account, see this tutorial for instructions: Store - Use when Signing in to Windows 10 with Local Account - Windows 10 Forums

That's what I was afraid of. I hate registering for new accounts just to download a single app. I've gone all these years without needing a Microsoft account.
