Windows 10 Search Bar Has Recently Turned White

24 hours ago, I don't recall it being white, I thought it was a dark gray, that matched the task bar. Did an update change this, or did I?

Any suggestions as to how to change it..and if it WAS another "brilliant move" on my part.. How to avoid doing it again, would be appreciated.

I was choosing whether I should make a thread about this after I noticed it.

Same here, seems to be something that came with a recent update. My desktop was updated a few days ago and was normal, I updated my notebook recently and it came with this "problem".

Found a fix here: Microsoft Community

    Update Fix found:
Well I found a fix reading another MS Answers thread.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-start/cortana-ask-me-anything-is-always-white/3672a8a0-3cd2-4a44-b46a-6fa14a0adedc?page=2
Fix (change your region country to locaiton without Cortana and then back):
    Settings / Time & Language / Region & Language
Then choose another country from the drop down (Gabon works).
    Sign out
Sign back in and change region country back to your correct country.

Tried it, and the search bar is back to normal

My 32 bit W10 clean Anniversary install has just done this. It was fine a couple of days ago when last used. Today and it has the white search box. My main 64 bit install is OK so far. Haven't tried any of the fixes so far......

Mine did this on friday night

Did the above fix by changing region to gabon then back again this morning (suppose this is just a place where cortana is not available so turns it off), and it has been fine so far all day, about last 9 hours

Would love to know what is causing this to happen

Does the fix bring the 'new style' search box up that it would have had before the problem occurred ? Robs pictures seem to show Cortana in white and then the old pre-Anniversary style search box afterwards.

For me it brought it back exactly as it was, just not white
When you change location to Gabon, it disables Cortana and a reboot gives you the generic search (non white)
Change it back to your country and reboot and you get Cortana (non white) back

Not sure if reboots are needed, but i did it anyway

I am thinking that all the fix does is turn cortana off then back on again, the only way to do that now is set location to a country that doesnt have cortana (unless a reg change can turn it off)
