is it normal for windows old to be 20.4 gb after AU

I have just checked mine following the update last week and the "windows.old" is just short of 19GB in size :)

I have also been told by a few people that this will auto delete after about 10 days :) Will soon find out this time next week...

You can force it by using Disk cleanup > Clean system files.

I am just going to wait and see if it does self delete :) just to see if it actually does Lol

They promised 10 days as opposed to 30 before but I have seen them sitting there for year or more.

That would not surprise me... I did the update on Tuesday night so I will see what happens about this time next week.. If not I will remove it myself :)

20.4 GB is not an unheard-of size for a Windows.old folder. I write about this stuff, so I usually check mine on a variety of systems. I've seen them as small as 9 or 10 GB and as large as 20-25 GB across the various systems upon which I've run Windows 10 since October of 2014 when the Technical Preview first became generally available. This is on the high side, but that probably reflects a Windows install with numerous installed applications (which also add to the image size).
