ASmedia ASM1142 New install USB Ports not working

This is a new board/install. I first installed the driver that came with it dated 2014 then downloaded your driver, DRIVER VERSION: 1.16.56.1 and installed it. I have windows 10 Pro 19041.329. I plugged both a linksysAC1200 and my mouse in the usb port and I get no response. USB ports are not working. device manager does see the ASM1142. ASMedia USB Root Hub
and ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller. Please Help.

    I noticed in device manager.

Device USB\ASMEDIAROOT_Hub\5&b746a&1&0 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

Uninstall it in Device Manager and reboot.

MS probably has the correct driver.

The Linksys AC1200 is a router, and you would not plug USB from it into your motherboard? Are you plugging your mouse into the Back USB ports and not the Front? Do you have any USB 2.0 ports (black)? Low powered devices like keyboards and mice work better thur a USBV 2.0 port rather then a USB 3.0 (Blue) port
ASmedia do not have a download section for their drivers on their web site, which is a bad sign. Why not Email their support, instead of this forum? asmediaservice@asmedia.com.tw; ask them for an answer or driver.

Yes I did that. I uninstalled both the new and old driver and windows 10 used it's driver and it migrated.
Microsoft driver 10.0.19041.329 6/2/2020. I did a shutdown and restart and windows found the device and installed it's driver automatically but I still get no response from the USB ports. So all 3 drivers don't work, but with windows driver it does Migrate.

    Device PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&SUBSYS_12421B21&REV_00\4&13d7cd30&0&0008 was migrated.

windows found the device and installed it's driver automatically
By "Windows found my device" are you speaking of the USB Port? or the LinkSys USB Wifi Dongle? Is this the USB 2.0 port or the USB 3.0 (Blue)?
Have you tried any other USB devices into the ports?
Try an older driver Drivers for ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1142 USB 3.1 Host Controller download - deviceinbox.com

Ok, I found something. Device manager picks up (USB Root Hub 3.0) and it wont Migrate. It is using Windows driver 10.0.19041.329 6/2/2020. By the way you are correct The Wireless Adapter is a Linksys WUSB6400M I am using the Linksys AC1200 Router which of course has nothing to do with the Problem!!! Sorry for the confusion.

So the ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller "does Migrate" and the ASMedia USB Root Hub "Fails to Migrate"

Device USB\ROOT_HUB30\5&b746a&4&0 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

So do the same for the ASMedia USB Root Hub.

Device Manager > Uninstall > Reboot.

    • What motherboard do you have?
    • Also can you post an image of Device Manager?

    Thanks
