Hi Mark and welcome to Tenforums.

You'll need some place to store the user data to be transferred.
If you each have a Microsoft Account, you can upload your stuff to OneDrive (if it's not too much data).
Or, you can get a USB flash drive, or USB external hard drive. It really depends on how much data we're talking about here.

Once you've each created your new administrative-level account on each other's machines, then, go into the new account, "manage users", and delete the existing account. Windows will ask you if you want to delete all user data, or save it. When you choose to save it, Windows will put a file on the new user desktop of all the user files from the account you just deleted. Then you copy that file to an external drive and move it to the other machine, putting it in the appropriate folders as necessary.

Just make sure when you create your new account, that you make it an administrative account, or you'll have problems - you don't want the only account left on the machine to be a local, non-admin account.

    Hope that helps! :)

    Good luck!
Just as a footnote: if it were me, I would backup the data myself before deleting the user accounts....just to be safe, you know?

See this video for an easy method to transfer files from old PC to new one:

(Video from Ten Forums video thread.)

You need to run it twice, first time for instance your laptop as old PC and your brother's as new, second time your brother's as old and yours as new.
