Corrupted text on some menu items

    Hi,
    I have a laptop, HP Pavillion 15, Windows 10 64 Home version 1607, build 14393.82.

I have recently noticed that whilst browsing my PC and using programs, some menu text is becoming obscured by coloured or black boxes, which clears after a reboot, but can reappear after a while.

Here are a couple of examples:

As you can see, it isn't all the text that is obscured.
It's a bit strange how the corruption is specific to some text items and not others.

Everything on my pc is up to date including drivers etc.

Any ideas as to what might be the cause?

Hi, does this happen in Safe Mode? After a clean boot?

Otherwise would suggest an issue related to your graphics driver version.
Latest on HP's site seems to be for Win 10: 10.18.13.5354 Rev.A

    BIOS updated August: F.81 Rev.A

Did this only become apparent after the anniversary upgrade?

    Thanks for the response dalchina.

The graphics driver I have been using is one I installed via device manager and searching for the latest driver which was found and installed from the internet; however when I check the drivers for my specific model using the serial number on HP's site it finds an older driver than my current one.

I have downloaded and installed the older driver as it the latest one from HP for my model and I will see how it goes over the next couple of days.

I suspect that windows is maybe finding the latest driver for my graphics directly from intel but the HP specific driver is better suited.

Thanks again for Your suggestion regarding the drivers

Thanks.. Win 10 as you probably know maintains the standard range of drivers automatically. For cases where that doesn't suit (usually older) PCs, MS eventually released some software to allow users to block specific updates. So, if you install an older or newer driver than Uncle MS deems good for you, it will be replaced without specific action on your part- MS hasn't built that into the GUI for you.

Another thing you should try, based on someone else's experience of a weird graphics effect, is simply to see what happens after a clean boot to check for any untoward effect of some installed program. That doesn't guarantee you eliminate all possibilities- but a good many. The result for that person was unexpected.
