Download Dates

I have a folder where I keep my downloaded pictures. The folder is set to the Details view, and I keep the files sorted by date with the more-recent files at the top and the older files farther down the list.

It used to be that when I downloaded a file the file would show the date of the download and appear at the top of the list. But sometimes the file seems to show the date the file was created rather than the date the file was downloaded.

How can I make all downloaded files appear with the current date?

Indeed, normally the creation/modified date is the date of download.

The only small exception I can think of is that for some files a download manager has been used whilst the download manager has been set to use the creation date provided by the server.

As dalchina and tfwul say, the downloaded date should be the creation date of the file once it makes its way to your computer.

The only time I can think a downloaded file would have a different date on it is if it's it was originally downloaded as a zip or rar type of file and then extracted. The contents of said zip/rar could potentially have the original creation date from someone else's PC instead of the downloaded date on your own. It happens all the time whenever I've downloaded and extracted zip contents for a mod to be used in a game.

I suppose if they've been downloaded in zip/rar form originally they could also share the same time differences on the actual images? That is if you haven't been doing the old right click and save as method for downloading images.
