Making SDelete from context menu run minimized

    Referring to the following post:
Add Secure Delete to Context Menu in Windows 10

Wanted to have the CMD window minimized when using this program inside the right-click context menu.
Any way this can be done?

    Hello @WinTenUser,

Are you talking about using start /min at the beginning of the CMD?

Have a look at this [ Principle the same ] => How do I Minimize the Command Prompt from my bat file

    I hope this helps.

As a quick thought; you would need to do something like this: pass the path of the item to sdelete as a parameter (quite easy) when used in the context menu, but run sdelete within a bat file with that parameter to ensure it's hidden.

Easy context menu (free) is very useful for adding such items to a context menu.

Some trial and error involved- don't actually use sdelete until confident you're passing the path correctly.

    Tried Eraser
    www.digitalcitizen.life/which-are-best-file-erasers-comparing-5-most-popular-file-shredders/
this looks very interesting, as it also deals with locked files.

Or see perhaps Privazer, File Shredder, AbsoluteShield, Deleteonclick, Blank and Secure or similar... which are said to add the option to the context menu:
32 Best Free File Shredder Programs (December 2021)

(I have Wise Care installed and this adds the option, but there's a UAC prompt and then the GUI is displayed with the item to be shredded, so not so neat)

But check what you pick also has a context menu for folders.

It's possible this may work, if I can run sdelete.exe via a batch file that minimizes sdelete's CMD window!?
But then again, this may minimize onlt the batch file that in turn executes sdelete.exe, which has its own CMD window.

Test/try this 'modified' version of Brink's REG file. Original taken from (Option1) the tutorial:
Add Secure Delete to Context Menu in Windows 10

    Add_Secure_Delete_to_context_menu_MINIMIZED.reg

If it doesn't work as intended, use the 'Remove' REG file from that tutorial (Option 2)
Add Secure Delete to Context Menu in Windows 10

(Hope Brink doesn't mind me modifying his script).

ps: On further testing, the command box doesn't appear when secure deleting a single file/folder but does so when there are multiple files/folders, so, sorry, it is a partial solution only. I'll leave the REG file in this thread in case you have any use for this partial solution.

    das10,
Thanks for the registry tweak! I had forgotten that this was part of BRINK's package and that it had the deletion method in the reg file. Paul Black's suggestion would have led me down the same path you went in finding a solution.
So far, I have not run into the same problem when deleting multiple files/folders.
