    win10 build ?

i help a friend with his win10 pc. he did the upgrade before the deadline.
i told him that the anniversary update would be done to his pc and as far as he knows, that didn't happen.

could someone tell me how to find out if it was done ?

i have win10 in my win7 pc in a virtual environment and i can't find the info.
    thanks.

Type winver or say Winver under Cortana.

It would be listed as Build 14393.10 for the Anniversary Update.

The AU was SUPPOSED to be pushed through windows update, it never came for me. I installed it with the media creation tool (clean install is always best imo anyways). Possibly because of the bugs associated with it maybe? But in any case if you want it download it here or grab the latest media creation tool.

    thanks for the replies.
i'm currently installing the AU in my virtual environment, i'll see if my friend already has it installed or not.
if it isn't, i'll wait with suggesting he does it (if he even wants it); i've read articles on how some ppl have experienced bad issues with it.

When 350 million computers are running an operating system, some are bound to have issues. If his computer is running well, then the update will likely be fine, too.

he's in usa/california, i'm in canada on the other coast. there's a limit to how much aid i can provide using a phone and teamviewer.

he had wanted me to upgrade him from win7 to win10 and i said no, notably because last year when he needed a win7 reinstall it kept farking. badly. after 3 reinstalls it wasn't possible for me to fix the errors. he managed to get dell to send him a fresh dvd/operating system and a manager called him to help him do the install, then remotely logged in to fix up all the issues that cropped up that i couldn't resolve.

i paid for it to be sent to a shop to be upgraded because i knew he'd receive it back in pristine shape. and that's what happened.

if he hasn't had the update already put in automatically then i'll abstain from having him do it.
    just in case.

win10 in my virtual environment upgraded just fine.

It doesn't seem to be automatically applied through Windows Update, but I also wouldn't see any reason to skip it if his computer is stable now.
