    Just wanted to add that I had this error as well and I did find the entry in dcom but not under the CLID "CDP Activity Store" name that was listed.

    I was able to find the entry down toward the bottom of the list in dcom under the name and appid {F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169} so I proceeded with the normal procedure to add system to the local activation which has stopped the error.

    Thank-you! It worked for me after trying everything else on the net.

    Unfortunately, the next day the errors returned.

    At each boot, event Log error writes...

    "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919}
    and APPID {F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169}
    to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable)."

    In this case, the usual fix cannot be made because the Default isn't listed (value not set) for Local Machine registry entry App ID {F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169}. Thus, it's unknown what DCOMCNFG item to open, so that Local Service|Local Activation can be added.

    Your thoughts?
    you were close to solution, i kinda went from your solution further.

    CLSID {8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919} = CDP Activity Store
    we don't need to change permissions here in register.

    APPID {F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169}
    change permissions from trusted installer(windows install ID), to your Admin name ,or administrators.
    this is so you can edit at component services without things being grey out,
    if you still cannot edit in component services (steps below), then go Into safe mode or turnoff UAC.

    the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) is not there in the list, and you Cannot add it.
    so you cannot give local activation permissions to this user.
    but you can put the activation permission on "standard" settings

    1.Go to start and apps ,
    2.and open Windows system manager folder.
    3.open component services .
    4.open computers
    5. open my computer (do not edit these permissions at computer , might make things worse.)
    6.open Dcom config.
    7. open properties of {F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169}
    8.go to security.
    9. at start and activate permissions , click tab "STANDARD"

    delete windows system log
    restart and check logs .
    could be it returns 1 time.

    delete log again and restart,
    problem should stay away.

    turn on UAC again.

    if names still popup like CLSID {8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919}
    then you could go to change permisisons in register.

    click "this computer" in register top.
    then click search in top bar.
    copy paste {8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919} and search for the folder.
    choose permissions.
    go to advanced , do not change system name.
    but put your Admin name in list underneath as principal.

    repeat if other folder names popup in error logs.

    i am not expert on component services , so if problems keep returning.
    it just worked for me for now.
    thats all i can say.

    Not sure what you did but I was able to add System without any issue.

    In the Select User, Computers, or Groups dialog box you type in System not NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

    yeah System was suppose to be added , i meant , do not change anything about it at computer properties..
    but you got the point already.

    thanks for you guys help , btw you guys did most work.
    i will try what you said , but i kinda already fixed it by putting it "standard".

    As we all know, "No Good Deed Shall Go Unpunished." This forum's power user (and maestro) fdegrove just helped me with the problem described above, but maybe it's just the start of the issues.

    There seem to be a bunch of issue-threads around the web regarding CDPusersvc, which might be Connected Devices Platform Service. Maybe this excellent forum and its power users can give us a global fix.

    First, I got the error above regarding "CDP Activity Store", and fdegrove walked me through the fix. See Windows 10 Event ID 10010 and 10016 Errors With DistributedCOM and following posts. (But if you have the same issue, you really need to read that thread from the start.) So we fixed that 10016 error.

    Second, I got a new error 10010 server timeout regarding "CDP User Service Notifications Host". See Windows 10 Event ID 10010 and 10016 Errors With DistributedCOM and fdegrove's undoubtedly sage response in the same thread.

    Third, I have another new Event Viewer error message with this CDP thingy.
    This is my third separate error with CDP ! (By the way, I am assuming that "CDP" means "Connected Devices Platform", but please correct me if I'm wrong.)
    Here it is:
    Log Name: System
    Source: Service Control Manager

    I like that - "Unspecified Error" !! Good one, Microsoft.

    Fourth, there are other interesting threads around the web that indicate this is a new "feature" in the Anniversary update for Win 10, but it has its sinister aspects. See these two for example:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com...10itprogeneralAnother web site (that's nasty in unrelated ways so I won't give the link) says the following, and I noticed he is right about the five random trailing digits in my own Services list:
    Removing Telemetry and other unnecessary services

    First, click start, type "Services" and open it. You will find a huge list of Windows Services, most of which are fine and safe, but others send data to Microsoft.
    Find a service called CDPUserSvc_xxxxx, where xxxxx are 5 randomly generated character (yes, Windows is using literal malware techniques to prevent automated removal of this trash).

    Fifth, I cannot even start this service. I get the 7023 error messages in event viewer. When I go to services, I see that this is not running. When I try to start it, I get this error message:

    So, will some of the experts here let us know what this CDP monster is, how to fix it and what to do with it?

    Also, please comment on my Third and Fifth new errors above.

    Thanks to all.

    i got no new errors after applying the fix and making those permissions "standard" .
    it ads the "System" in permission list too, and removes a Admin or User that was listed
    i don't think that one was important.
    might have been my own Admin name in another code.
    System was important to ad to the list.

    everything works fine on permissions "standard" and system log is clean of error.
    i also did a recent fresh install of windows 10 via restore options and tool it downloads.
    Brought me directly to build 14393 again.
    so figures the clean error free list i guess.

    "The CDP activity Store" was the only problem for me , not anymore now.

    Connected Devices ,interesting you say that.
    I don't know of this got to do with it, But i also enabled legacy USB (xHCI) in Bios.
    installed chipset
    the USB controller (xHCI) drivers are still Microsoft , but works all great now.
    before it did not reconise my Logitech HID mouse, now it does.

    but i did needed to put the xbox controller on different USB port with different chipset , to prevent kernel errors in log with my External HDD (USB3.0).
    now everything is fine.
    if all plugged in right and enabled.

    my HID mouse, HID Keyboard and , Soundblaster Omni USB soundcard, works best on USB 2.0

    SATA mode AHCI ofcourse for windows 10 and SSD/HDD.
    otherwise get same kernel messages.

    i also noticed it has an advantage to install the SATA driver or (.inf) during windows Install of a USB or DVD
    prevents RAID issues , if wanted to do AHCI instead of RAID.

    if 2x SSD windows could make a mistake, and sets things wrong in register,
    not if driver is installed
