View>list folder option doesn't stick to all folders

In a folder, when I do View>list and then in Options apply that to all folders, it often doesn't stick, i.e some sub folders under that folder show the details view. Any suggestions?

In fact it looks like all new folders are defaulting to details view.

If you look at description of "Apply to all folders", you will notice "of this type". Repeat procedure for similar folders and it should stick.

I'm usually setting view for one main type (general - like C: drive) and it stick for all folder, except music, photos etc. These are to be set separately.

    Hello Tom, :)

If you want to apply it to all folders, then you would need to use the method in the tutorial below to first set a default folder template (ex: "General Items") for all folders, then use "Apply to Folders".

Thanks both, will give both methods a shot.

'Of this type' seems vague and a bit of a cop out on Micrsosoft's part. Oh well

It is better described in Tutorials that Brink linked.
