September 29 when you mean release to market with RTM (not release to manufacturers). Release to manufacturers would be July 28.

Release to manufacturing means to the OEMs and to the DVD presses for retailers like Newegg. Release to Market is when it's released to you, me and everyone else on the planet.

I know that. But to me it was not clear what we are betting on. In the world I come from we only had release to market.

I'm sure this is strictly RTM (Release To Manufacturing) so to avoid further confusion, instead of (Release To Market) let's stick to GA (General Availability) for that.

I went back and looked: Page 3, Post 23 should give you what you need to know.

The RTM is a very clear date which will be set by Microsoft. On that day the final version of Windows 10 will be released so that the computer manufacturers can officially pre-install it on computers they will sell.
So, it looks like Release to Manufacturing.

For me to win, it looks like it would have to be Release to Market, since I guessed September 4.

I fixed that for you. :)

You never know, they could change a bunch of things up and drag this out for a while.

Release to Market is General Availability. :)

Everything's done at Release to Market.

OEMs have Windows 10 installed on their computers and can only sell them (with Win 10 installed) when Microsoft says, "Release it to the Market," which, BTW, is us. DVDs are pressed with Windows 10 and are in Retailers' inventory and can only be sold when Microsoft says, "Release it to the Market."

AFIK, Microsoft has never used the term "General Availability" when referring to an RTM product.

Be that as it may, we seem to be guessing on Release to Manufacturing, rather than Market in this thread.
