Here in deep East Texas, August 31 is the hottest time of Summer! Even when "official" Fall begins, it's hotter than hot here and we don't even notice the changing of the seasons.

The Release to Manufacturing date may proceed the actual availability, at outlets such as Newegg by days' weeks or even months. It takes time for the physical discs to be manufactured after all.

IIRC RTM copies have been made available to MSDN etc. members a day or two following the RTM date. Windows update normally offers updates at the time of the official release, which for Windows 8 was several weeks after the actual RTM.
