I'm not sure what's going on, but when I went to the ISO link, I was offered the MCT; not what I want.
Is this what you're looking for?

    Yes, thank you. Downloading now.

OldMike said the files are a tad bit different, so I decided I need to get the very latest, in hopes some bugs have been squished. Although I haven't had any problems, I know they're floating around out there.

    OK, testing is finished.

As expected, adding PID.txt (Win 8.1 product key) to the flash drive gives me Windows 10 Pro.

I fully expected the generic key to give me Windows 10 Pro too, but it did not. When the install finished, I only have Home. So that's a bummer. I did double check to be sure I had exactly the key I should have.

I'd also be interested to know if using the generic key will be enough to get your Pro version installed and activated, since your system was already activated with Pro @Wynona.
Starnge that it didn't work for Wynona, generic key worked well when I had to do this a few times with 8.1.

Con: I can only use this Flash Drive with Lappy because it has its own PID now.
Wynona, are you trying to make this a bit too difficult? You can reuse the USB on other machines simply by editing the PID file. Or rather removing it from USB and making a new one with proper key when you need it again.

    Thanks Cliff :)

A bit early for refreshment, 8:40 AM. I have this principle I never drink before 6 PM 3 PM 11 AM, have to wait a few hours.

Yes, it is strange, because inserting the 8.1 key as PID.txt worked just fine. And, as I said, I double checked everything and followed your instructions explisitly.

Told ya I ain't no coder. I did think about that, but was kinda reluctant to do it, since I'm a total novice at things like that.

For now, I have other things that must get done, so any more testing will have to wait.

Thanks for the help with testing.

I am surprised. That's a shame. It should have worked for Pro. Thanks for testing that for us.

EDIT: So, in order to get Pro on a previously activated Pro system with Home in the BIOS, you would have to use Pro-only install media.

Either that or plug in the PID.txt file with the 8.1 key.

Correct, but that's what I was trying to avoid.
