BTW, I am sorry but I have had quite a lot to do*, the video from our meeting last Saturday will be posted here but it might still take one or two days. Encoding and editing a two and a half hours video is not fast, I do not want to start until I know that I have a half a day for it and can concentrate only for that.

Kari, didn't your mother tell you that you shouldn't mix in with the Pro Ice Hockey guys!? :) And didn't she tell you that if you did, you would get hurt? :)

My mom only told me Team Finland is the best! I'm ready for tonight's game, although it's a bit silly situation: by losing tonight, Finland would get an easier opponent in Thursday's quarterfinals!

Kinda like our Houston Rockets (basketball); if they lose the next game, though, they're out and don't get another opponent, easy or hard. They won 3 out of 4 (best 3 out of 5) and now they're getting clobbered by the Clippers. Hubby watches and I get updates. :)

Guys, am I misunderstanding something here? As far as I know you shouldn't do the recording on the virtual machine, you should use host to record the virtual machine.
In my case I was thinking about the recording of sound rather than recording of the video. As you say, I'm recording video with the capture software on the host machine, capturing the window containing the VM.

But I was recording sound in the VM because the sound recording that was subject of the video so I wanted to do it live. Next time I might fake that bit and dub the sound on later !

Also I've just put the latest Realtek drivers on my host computer and that seems to have made a big improvement to the sound recording quality, even on a cheap microphone.

I think I'll end up remaking my videos at some point as I think I've worked out how to do it more simply now. Not tonight though!

OK fellow video geeks, I gave up editing and cutting the video from our meeting last Saturday after Premiere Pro crashed three times in a row after some two hours encoding with over 80% encoded.

Instead, although I would not like to show a video this raw, here's the uncut, unedited video from the meeting. Turn down the volume, my microphone is broken and it only records either barely audible or extremely loud :).

I will upload the raw video to OneDrive where you can then download it to your local PC in case you would like to watch it fast forwarded or cut shorter for your own use. Link will be posted here when it has uploaded, it's almost 2 GB file so it might take some time.

An interesting new, free tool from Microsoft: Microsoft Hyperlapse - Microsoft Research

This tool is more to work with your videos recorded with a mobile phone or video camera, not as much to be used in editing Windows videos, but still interested enough to post here :).

Thanks Kari. Do I take it that you are not real fond of Movie Studio 13? I'm working with it now, and am fighting with the learning curve, but making a little head way.

I have tested the Sony Movie Studio now a bit more and although it basically offers everything you could think of, there's something that I don't like in it. I cannot explain what and why, almost everything I do with Premiere Pro is possible, yet I do not find it as user friendly.

Adobe has never been accused of being 'user friendly' in almost anything, at least that I've heard. I'm trying Movie studio now, and there are a lot of 'tricks' that are not well published, but it will do most of what I need. I still find Movie Maker more user friendly, except when it decides it doesn't care what you want to do. But, as long as you know that and what to do to fix it
it works fine. But I'm sure you can say that about any software. I was thinking about using Handbrake to encode the videos. It will eat the resources of your computer alive, but I have used it and it does a pretty good job. I just want to see if it is better than Movie Maker.

I just went to YouTube and searched for "Movie Studio 13 Tutorials" and found quite a few. Here's the link from YouTube:
