About how I do these, first the backgrounds:

I usually get the background images from existing videos. I watch the video in full screen, stop it at the point I want to capture and make a screenshot, saving it as 1920*1080 PNG image.

If it needs editing I do it in the Windows Paint. In the case of the image in my previous post, I used PhotoShop to create the lighter one from the darker original.

For text slides inserted in videos, I use PowerPoint. You don't have to use the paid for version, the free PowerPoint Online and / or PowerPoint Windows App available from Store (Beta) are enough.

I use these Ten Forums themed backgrounds as the slide background in PowerPoint, usually the darker one in the title slide where's less text, and then later the lighter one with the explaining slides with more text so that the text is better visible.

When I am done with the PowerPoint presentation, when I have created all the slides I need, I start a slideshow in full screen. Now I create a full screen screenshot of the slide 1, then move to slide 2 and do the same, and so on. This results a bunch of image files, each showing one slide intended to be inserted to the video, which I can then import to Movie Maker and place where I want them.

That's something to start with :).

OK, thanks. I have most of that already, with the exception of Photoshop, but I have the free version from the Windows Store.

    Nice Dude!

Some points, please remember this is just my personal very subjective opinion:
    • How about instead of showing all instructions at once at start, show them in two or three slides? Like 1.) Open the Settings and go to blah blah, then to show that to viewers, then second slide for instance 2.) Browse to your Slideshow folder and select it blah blah and so on, then showing it, you get my point
    • Do you cover all options? What about how often the background will be changed?

Thanks Kari, good points. That was more of a run to make sure I can make a video. I will refine it and cover some more details. It's my prep vid to prepare for the next session

I did it with all the free tools, my full office suite is on my Win 8.1 OS. I used the online office, and created a new google account. I'm ready to practice more now

You got the slide nicely inserted. Maybe add a title slide at the beginning?

Very good, I like the transition at 26 / 27 second mark!

May I add this to the list or is this not yet the final version?

Video added to the list. Thanks Dude :).

Please notice, my OneDrive is doing some heavy duty syncing ATM, it can take a while before the list in the first post is up to date.

@Wynona, @Dude, @Charlie & @essenbe, have you had the possibility to test your new skills yet? Any videos made?

No stress, this is just an idea...

Kari, I've been busier than a one-armed paper hanger, which is kind of ironic, because my grand-daddy was one. :) Seriously.

As stated in another thread, I hosed the desktop with the ESD on page 6, post 55 and don't exactly know what I did. But I think I probably trashed the boot sector. It's in the shop now, so I can't do anything because I'm not doing any serious work on this laptop, even if it is 17"!

A friend won $1,000 in the lotto and we took her to get it today; had about a 150 mile round trip for that and have to go another 100 mile round trip for a routine health checkup for hubby tomorrow.

Hopefully, I'll get to view the video you made (thanks for doing that for us!) tomorrow evening. Right now I'm as trashed as my desktop . . . Houston, Texas traffic is not something I need to mess with at my age!
