Difference or not, my point is that it is totally possible to make nice videos with free tools only as we did yesterday. OK, you can polish the final video a bit more with some advanced editing tools but the combination Expression Encoder - Movie Maker - Free PowerPoint Online - Snipping Tool is enough to create a good looking instructional video.

OK, here's the video from our online session yesterday. Video is quite raw, I have not polished or edited it at all apart of cutting half an hour irrelevant material away. In the beginning a few cuts have been made too long, causing the audio to jump comically. Sorry about that.

Please notice that although I have been participating many online meetings, this was the first time for me to have an online instructional session to show fellow members how to do something in Windows. I was not prepared as I should have been, or rather I was prepared for wrong things and stuff :).

Anyway, as this was the first time, I learned some dos and don't dos for the next session :). I promise it will be better and I will stay calmer...

Turn your PC volume down a bit please :). As always, click the YouTube logo bottom right to watch in YouTube to enable full screen.

    Kari,
Thanks for putting the recording of the live session up online. I missed some things that I am now catching up on. Se oli hyvä :)

Thanks Charlie. Your Finnish is perfect :).

BTW, here's an example of the time needed as we talked about it on Saturday. A 40 minute screen capture raw video with HD resolution, file size 268.5 MB. I started the encoding in best quality about half an hour ago, it still has 3 hours to go:

In my case now there was nothing I could cut out from the raw video, I need it all. Usually you would cut unnecessary and irrelevant segments out already here in the Encoder before encoding, in order to get smaller raw video file size and reduce the time needed for encoding.

@Wynona, @Dude, @Charlie & @essenbe, have you had the possibility to test your new skills yet? Any videos made?

I have a list of some pretty simple and basic Windows 10 features, about how to do something in Windows 10 and was wondering if you would be up to an unofficial "exam" :)?

If interested I will give you a task, a basic Windows 10 feature, telling my opinion about what the video should show, and you could then make a minute or two video about it. This way we could be sure we are not all making the same videos at the same time.

If interested, please let me know. If you want to we could also have another online session together where I could grant you the presenter rights so that you could show your progress from your desktop and we could then look more into your possible issues.

No stress, this is just an idea...

    Nice!

I have been thinking to redo the online session on Saturday in week and a half, 11th of May. This time difference makes it quite difficult to do it on any other day and time than Saturday evening Central European, around noon US time, and I was thinking this Saturday would be too soon.

Kari, what program did you use to make stuff like your Desktop background and some of your other additions? I am not very graphics talented but would like to make it look nice. I could always ask Arc, but I'd really like to learn how to do it myself. Your coffee cup is excellent.

I have made the desktop background I use in the videos from a video file. To save you the work, here are both the dark and light ones I use:
