    Very nice, David! Very nice!

I do have one "nit" to pick, though. At times while you're explaining things to us in both videos, your voice tends to fade out and I can't hear what you're saying.

Also, I very much like the fact that as you select something, you tell us what it is and why. Overall, I give you a "9.9" which would have been a "10" if your voice hadn't faded.

Thanks for the Audacity information; I will also try it. And since I was popping in and out of Lync, I didn't get to hear you tell us abut Audacity.

Nice research Dude! I need to learn more about it, too, will check today. Do you think this would work better than adding additional audio in Movie Maker?

Wynona, the Audacity was only covered really shortly, apparently just when the meeting "threw you out" and before you got back in. David mentioned it being free, and that you can use it for instance for leveling the volume in an audio file so that when you import it as additional audio track to a Movie Maker project, or Expression Encoder as Dude now shows us, the volume is low enough not to cover the narration.

I try to get the video edited and encoded today, you'll see you didn't miss too much.

    Hi Wynona,

Yes I agree I need to do something about the levels, and I was perhaps also speaking too fast at times. I ran out of time this weekend though, and won't get much time to do more on it in the next 2 weeks or so, so I thought I'd post the video as it was.

See my second video from about 10 mins 30 seconds for examples of changing the volume in Audacity.

I think one advantage of adding audio to Movie Maker might be that you can insert slides and transitions which may not be in the version captured in Expression, and then add the audio to match the full video.

BTW David, I mixed you and Bill (Slartybart) in my previous post, that's fixed now. It was you who mentioned the Audacity, credits where they belong :).

Good videos, I will add both to the list.

As well as the Store Lync app, there also seems to be a free 'Basic' client which it seems is a desktop app.

    From here: https://products.office.com/en-us/sk...siness/it-pros
Client Licenses are required to access all Skype for Business Online and Server features.

•Standard CALs enable users or devices to connect to Skype for Business Server for presence, IM, peer-to-peer VoIP and HD video, and Skype connectivity.
•For Skype for Business Server, client licenses are available through the standalone client, with Office Pro Plus, or by downloading the free Skype for Business Basic client
I'm not sure if the download is still called Lync 2013 Basic or Skype for Business Basic.

Edit: I tried downloading the Lync Basic desktop app. But I can't figure out a way to use it without a Lync account. So it's probably the Store app for me next time.

I'll give that a go next time, as I'm still using 8.1 with 10 in a VM (because when I try 10 on physical hardware it seems to give BSODs due to drivers - maybe 10074 works better but I don't trust it to stay stable over a conference). So as I'm using 8.1 as the main machine, the Store App is less easy to use when I can't put it in a window (one of the improvements in Windows 10 ).

I'm also thinking that my sound quality suffers because I captured the sound in a VM, so the sound was already processed before it got captured. I'll try physical hardware for the sound next time.

I've been thinking about how best I should go about learning to create video instructions and my very analytical mind (you weren't really surprised, were ya?) has decided how I should go about it, but not in which order.

. . . however, there are at least four parts to the equation and I'm not sure which one to tackle first. Yeh, sadly, I need to learn things in order or it won't stick. So . . . Which comes first; the chicken or the egg?
I went to the video of our first meeting and watched it. Now I know where the questions I asked (above) came from! Kari gave us pretty much exactly the steps to follow as well as to suggest that we go into each part of the process in depth.

It is very easy to set it, defaults to covering the whole video track. A few quick clicks and it was setup as background music, not overpowering. I think Audacity offers more options, so it will go to personal preference I think.

It is a lot to take in Wynona. I tried by starting with a simple idea, to get a feel of the programs. I don't think a long video to start out with is very easy

In addition, to start with do not choose a too complicated subject for your video. These are just my ideas of some subjects to start with, each only requiring a minute or two of video:
    • Set the home page in Spartan
    • Change Windows 10 desktop theme
    • Change the Taskbar size and location
    • Perform a full scan with Windows Defender
    • Create a Restore Point
    • Show or Hide desktop icons

All the above are examples of basic Windows 10 tasks which most of us can but which, when instructions would be available as a tutorial or video could in the future help a great number of new Windows 10 users.

Thanks, Kari! I have one in mind, but won't say what until I see if I can do it.

On another subject: I have long used "Professor Teaches" videos. I like them but they're not in any way helpful for what we're doing here, except that they may show some of what we aspire to. :)

Great observation Dude. I have always thought that's what I did wrong with my first one. I wanted something I knew how to do pretty well, but it was a long subject. My screen capture when it came out of expression was 17 minutes +. that was before adding the PPt captures or voice. That's a long first start. I managed to cut everything down to 8 minutes or so. But, when doing your first one and learning how to use the software, that's a long video. If I had to do it over again, I would pick a short simple subject to learn with. Once you are familiar with the software and how everything works, then do a longer one. That's my suggestion.
