    One "tweak" too far.

I’ve been tweaking a new Windows 10 install ad apparently went “one tweak too far”! I can no longer see “Appearance” in the right-click desktop fly-out menu - only “Display Settings” and “Personalize”.

I may have turned on high contrast settings, since the background of both “Display” and “Personalize” is black, where it would normally be white. I also find that some of the applications settings screens are not displaying the check-box graphics or the on-off radio circles. The correct text is visible, but not the squares or circles.

I’d appreciate ANY help anyone might be inclined to offer.

    Thanks.

You need to tell us what you did? Backtrack what you did and undo it?

If I could remember that, I'd have reversed it instead of asking for help. Sorry about being vague, but i really don't know which tweak cause the problem, nor do I recall what tweaks I did.

OK fair enough. I have no idea where to begin. Run the system file checker maybe, scf/scannow. Or do a reset.

If you use the Reset Option you will lose all your installed programs. A much better method if you decide to go this route, is to do a Repair Install, this will repair all your Windows files, without removing your installed programs or personal files.

Appearance - in the rt click desktop context menu? I don't see that- and here's Brink's tutorial with a pic of what you might see:
Personalize Desktop Context Menu - Add or Remove in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

You can add back the Classic version of Personalise... that gives a shortcut to Colour and Appearance

    Hello JLOB, :)

If you like, you could do a system restore using a restore point dated before the "one tweak too far" happened to undo it.
