what's with the logo change on all my thumbnails?

This morning when I turned on my computer, all my thumbnails have blue boxes on the lower left. No more blue word logo for word, green excel logo for excel, and mountain scene for .jpg's. Is it something I did or is this another Microsoft "improvement"? Can I somehow revert back to the way it was? Thanks

I'm going to hazard a guess you're referring to icon overlays.. if so, as Try3 says, an image is essential. And if so these can be from synching programs like Onedrive and 3rd party programs like Norton and some backup programs.

And if so, this kind of question has been asked before on tenforums, so feel free to search tenforums, or perhaps try an image search with Google. Or search for icon overlays... try this:

List of shell icon overlay identifiers - Wikipedia

and see if you see yours.

It's a blue box with two ">" in it. It appears on every file. Could it be from a Norton update? I have not added or deleted any programs. As I mentioned, these appeared when I turned on my computer.

    Hi, thanks for the photo.

    I searched
blue 2 white chevrons icon overlay

    for you - see:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...3-7b44acd3f20f

where you will see similar. I mentions e.g.
Do you have Norton Backup installed? If so, those arrows indicate when something has been backed up.

Go into Norton Settings > Backup and uncheck the option for "Backup Status Overlay"
    - one I mentioned in my first post.

    Same issue covered here:

Those are Norton backup overlays & show the files are ready to be synced/are being added to the backup.
Tbh I found Norton Backup very complicated especially when trying to restore a file.

Thanks for all the help. It was Norton causing it. I followed the above link and turned off the overlay and when I rebooted, they were gone. Thanks again.
