Photoshop elements 9 not compatible with windows 10?

I had an hp computer that ran windows 7. I went ahead and upgraded it to windows 10. This computer also ran Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 that I received free with an Epson scanner.

I recently upgraded to a new computer. Still hp. Came with Windows 10 on it. I tried to install my PE9 disc and all was fine until near the end of the install I got an error message: "1935, during installation of assembly component."

I contacted Adobe support to explore if they'd let me download PE9 for free. I have a serial number.

I was told that PE9 won't work on Windows 10.

This is odd because it did work with my old computer after I upgraded from os 7 to 10.

Is Adobe support correct and my only alternative is to download PE14 for $80??

    Hi.
Of course, Adobe know if their software is compatible with W10, but if you say it was working on a W7 machine that was upgraded to W10, you could try installing it in compatibility mode. Right-click on the executable installer and select properties. Select compatibility mode for W7, and then try installing. You may also have to run the installer as an administrator (sometimes that works as well).

Well, perhaps third time is a charm. I tried installing from the disc this morning and it worked; no error messages. I just opened it and moved a photo over and it seems to be okay. Soon I'll have the opportunity to see what, if anything, didn't load on this new W10 machine.

Thank you for your response. I am going to mark this "solved" until I learn otherwise.

That's good news! Glad you got it sorted. :)
