Oddly and sadly enough, selling Windows as an app subscription service makes perfect business sense in this day and age.
It's a guaranteed constant source of income with the least amount of overhead.

You loose very little renting an office app/ service if the device dies = cancel and done month to month terms.
Buy a new device and activate the service with it = done.

As I stated it ONLY applies to Office 365
Office 365 is already a subscription - you pay per year. Perhaps I've missed your point.

There is all kinds of speculation out there. This is from a post link on seven forums discussing it

It's possible that Microsoft could offer a free update to Windows 10 as bait to get those running pirated versions of Windows to make the switch. Then it could push out an update that flips a switch to block or disable all Windows systems that don't have a valid activation code. If there's no way to opt out of the updates, there would be no way for those running "pirated" versions of Windows 10 to prevent the update.

I did not write the story, I posted that Windows 10 is Not a subscription service. What I said in the OP about renting an OS was an off the cuff sarcastic remark. You people need to lighten up and enjoy the moment as the clock is ticking on all of us. I will not use Office 365 so I do not care if they charge $50.00/month for it. There is a video of a MS employee stating that Windows 10 will be a FREE upgrade for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users. He said nothing about subscriptions. All I know is that there is no free lunch especially in Redmond. I use Office 2010 and will continue to use it in Windows 10. I have said all that I am going to say about this so please move on/

A little testy are we :/
The whole subscription thing is good for blood circulation :)
But most likely limited to apps
Win-10 will most likely be sold after a year how much is the ultimate question 0.00-???.??

You seem to still want to believe that MS will eventually have a subscription for Windows.. "No free lunch".. No one is forcing you to use anything beyond Office 2010 so the subscription issue with Office 365 is not an issue for you.

And don't forget you started the thread and sarcastically or not got the topic going.

It's fine but when it's baseless it's of no use. But some always want to think the worst of MS for some reason.
