Can This Be Used to Encrypt Certain Folders ONLY and Does It Work Well

Hi, from my understanding, one can use BitLocker ONLY to encrypt entire drives. Not specific folders.
I noticed this option while right-clicking a folder:

I think this would be useful to encrypt only those folders on the drive that may contain sensitive data. Before I enable it, I'd like to know what to expect. Will this be password-protected? Will it remain decrypted until I reboot? Has anyone tried it? Is it a good option?

Hi, this is not bitlocker - this is the EFS encryption system which has been around from Win 2000.

I wanted to encrypt part of a removable USB drive and hit the problem of Bitlocker only encrypting drives. I found a work around using this method http://www.howtogeek.com/193013/how-...er-on-windows/

Basically you create a Virtual Hard Drive stored on your removable drive, encrypt that using Bitlocker then copy your files to the encrypted VHD. You will need to mount VHD to access your files.

Didn't check your link but will say I use WinZip to compress files and can assign a password so they can't be opened. Microsoft Office can be set to password protect files, probably other programs can be also. Then they could be stored anywhere and accessed from any computer as long as the password is remembered.
