I use an external drive as well to image my system. I do not use restore points so I do an image every other day. Sorry I do not know everyone well yet on this forum to know when they are serious or not. I hope to get to know more people as time goes by.
You'll get there, Gary. What is most important is that if you have a problem, all you have to do is ask for help. Somebody will be able to get you out of trouble, or at least point the way.

I get it done pretty efficiently and quickly at work on the tablet. Rarely do I bring work home with me!
What size is the tablet, Edwin? Curiosity kilt da ferret . . .

My slate is a 10" tablet, Adam. Which is pretty big as tablets go. However, there are 12" tabs showing up lately.

So, do you mean larger than 10" or smaller? Like a great big phone?
Oh dear. My humour has clearly failed. It was supposed to be a joke.

Nope. You gotta have Build 10049.

Thanks Edwin I'm tempted, but, as I'm running it as my sole OS, I think I'm probably safer staying in the slow lane, and waiting for it.

    Hi

I've been running only Widows 10 for months.

I create a system restore using EaseUS TODO backup and Recovery, every time I get a new build and keep the old one that I was using so if things go wrong I can be back to a stable build in 20 minutes.

I've been using TODO for a couple of years now and it by far the easiest backup software to use that I've ever had.

It literally on takes about 3 clicks, and it will backup your whole system install boot sector etc.

And it's Free! I've restored Windows 10 about 7 times and it's never failed, creates it's own bootable repair disk, either Linux of Windows PE, if you don't already have backup software that you are using give it a try.

Knowing that you can be back up and running in just a matter of minutes, even if you can't boot your computer gives a lot of reassurance. LOL

Everyone should make regular system images of there C:\ drive.

I'd recommend installing Windows 10 on a 200 Gigabyte Partition (I did 100 and wish I'd made it bigger), and installing all of your software on another drive.

For example when installing Photoshop, change the drive letter on the install location to D:\Program Files (x86) etc.
This will keep you system image very small and easy to both backup and restore.

    Mike

PS. I'm staying in the slow lane, so I don't have 10049 yet.

Thanks Wynona, I am there. I installed build 9926 this morning. Updated everything then changed to from the slow to the fast track an updated from 9926 to 10049 in less than 45 minutes. I think that there was a problem with the drive I was using or it was just to slow. All is well and I am back on Win 10. Hook em Horns
