Sleep mode closing all my apps, when waking up the machine.

Hello. I noticed yesterday , that when i resume from the sleep state, all my opened apps are gone. They don't stay in the Ram, so when the machine wakes up, i have to reopen everything.
Also , when i wake up my laptop, it takes a lot more, like it was shutted down, not put to sleep.

I tried to fix it myself, so i uninstalled everything i installed recently, updated all the drivers and so on. But still nothing. So I reinstalled Windows again, erasing my C: partition. After a little set up, i tried the sleep mode again...and the problem still persists. I had no sleep problems before yesterday.

So i am thinking this may be a Windows problem...or a hardware problem.

Thanks for your attention, and I waiting for a reply.

    I have an Asus System Model S551LN, with Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU , NVIDIA GeForce 840M, 8gb ram.

Sleep/Hibernate causing crash or just restarting.

I think we have the exact same problem. My computer restarts when waking up the machine from sleep/hibernation.
You did a complete wipe and that didn't help? I was about to do that, but I'm thinking it's a hardware issue now. I also have an ASUS. You have a good video card though, I have the cheap genric intel.

    1. Have you updated your video drivers?
    2. Checked if BIOS is up to date?

Those are the two most common responses I've seen for similar problems. I've done both and more. So I hope to find some other suggestions.

I'm glad I didn't do the whole reinstall yet, sounds like it would have been a waste of time and energy.
    - Have you done SFC /SCANNOW? No problems on my end. Shouldn't with clean install.

**I just noticed a new problem/clue. Can you turn your screen off (my computer is fn+F7) and have it come back on? Not sleep, but just off. Mine shows a black screen, and I have to restart with the power button. So it's something with the monitor/graphics card coming back on. Blank screen saver is OK, but not when the monitor off.
I'm also going to hook up my PC to TV to see if it projects and then works after disconnection.

Any chance you have the same problem?
I'm going to contact ASUS about it, hopefully they have some advice. I'll update my status.

Reviving this old thread... I have the same problem: all the apps I had open before my laptop sleeps (on its own schedule, not by my direct action) seem to be forced to quit. It started about two weeks ago. I haven't yet had the chance to attempt to troubleshoot it, or do any deep investigation. I'm wondering if a solution was found?
