It worked. So we'll never know what actually caused it but forcing it to just go to sleep no matter what accomplished what we set out to do.

Almost two months later, you sure weren't in a hurry to follow up . I assume it worked for you straight off and you are just getting around to letting us know.

Based on your power requests we know exactly what was causing it, servnet. You told the computer to ignore that request and the computer is able to sleep. Keep the solution in mind as you may have to do it for other processes/drivers, etc.

    Actually, yes.

The solution was posted and three days later Verizon went on strike so just like you said I worked for the past two months, 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. My days off I just layed in bed and stared at the wall or drank myself to death.

But it's all over now so here I am letting everyone know the good news that my PC sleeps again.

    Hi all

I intend to try powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER "srvnet" SYSTEM.

My question : what is the command line to restore srvnet driver(if the trick does't work) ?

    Thanks

    Hi all,
I've run the following trick for 2 weeks and auto sleep is OK now

1- arrêter le service "WMPNetworkSvc" (gestionnaire des tâches > Services)
1- disable service "WMPNetworkSvc" (task manager > Services)

powercfg –requestsoverride. Dans le § Driver on doit avoir "srvnet".
Pour rétablir le driver srvnet taper :
powercfg –requestsoverride DRIVER "srvnet" (pour mémoire).
2- disable driver "srvnet" (command line admin > type "powercfg –requestsoverride DRIVER "srvnet" SYSTEM". To check that driver is off, type "powercfg –requestsoverride". Response must be "srvnet"
To restore "srvnet" driver type powercfg –requestsoverride DRIVER "srvnet" (for the record)

3- supprimer le groupe résidentiel (ce qui n'empêche pas le fonctionnement de l'imprimante en réseau)
3- leave the home group (what does't prevent the printer from to be operational)

4- dans Panneau de configuration > Centre réseau et partage > Paramètres de partage avancés > décocher "Activer la découverte de réseau"
4- in control panel > Network and sharing center > Advance sharing settings > check "turn off network discovery"

    Hope this can help

Yes, this sujjested method helped, but now my PC doesn't wake from LAN! When I'm resting on sofa with my laptop I cannot access my file storage @ sleeping PC anymore! Can someone tell me how to revert back this setting and - I'm almost sure - this problem is somehow connected with a homegroup media sharing capabilities.

    Can somone presume?

I know this is an old thread, but I figure someone may want an answer for this one. Just do the request override without the override type at the end.

    powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER "srvnet"

OR, look at the end of step 2 in freestyle's answer above Alejandro's question
