Windows 10 logs me out and restarts after 5-10 minutes

So I upgraded to Windows 10 about a week ago, something I was unhappy about. Ever since, my computer restarts and logs me out if I am not actively using a program(I can type or watch a video without this happening, but if my computer is idling it will do this). Is this happening to anyone else and how can it be fixed.

Note: This is not an update related thing, it is completely separate, also messing with personalization and power settings did not help.

Hello Loved XP Welcome to the Ten Forums!

I have to say this is a new one which may just end up needing you to take a last resort option of either seeing a Second Upgrade Repair Install to repair the first which is obviously come out "BUGGY as all Heck"! too often seen with upgrade type installs regardless of which two versions are involved. The second option would be simply put Clean Install Time!

That means starting all over fresh to see a working copy of 10 put on your machine there! Had to do that after the initial upgrade install last summer came out buggy here! Of course you can always hit the Reset option rather then booting live from the 10 media used? if you did or go one step further and enable the Get insider builds option in the advance update settings found under Start>Settings>Update & Security! For refreshing the present 10 upgrade.... Refresh Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

The restart following the click to enable that option being required is followed by a second visit to move the Slow-----Fast slider to the Fast position. After several hours the latest build will be found when checking the updates and take a bit of time to upgrade over the build you are running also seeing a repair install take place as well by Windows Updates. Is it actually restarting or just going to the Lock Screen when say the screen saver comes on?

I was thinking the pc may be going to sleep depending on the settings where the wakeup then requires signing back in. I still need to set up the automatic login here while the main is hardly ever restarted except for going into the 7 side when not getting a new build.

It definitely sounds like it is just going out to the Lock Screen. Easy fix, and if I remember right, this happened with 8 and 8.1, too.

Hey again, I have had it do this several times in front of me. The way it happened each time, was I was doing something on my system, I would turn and do something for a few minutes and turn back to my system and see it go to the restart/bootup Lenovo splash screen.

I think I will try to repair install, and if it continues I will clean install. I will not be able to do that for a few weeks though.

If you enable the Get insider builds option that should see the repair taken care of automatically with the latest build going on and still leaving things intact to hold you over until the Redstone 1 is out this summer at least. That will be the equal to Threshold 3 type update for the 1st anniversary and stable general release type build. Generally the upgrade over with a newer build goes a bit smoother then a repair with the same. Windows always likes newer things as to how that tends to work. :)

Do you have anything listed in the Event Logs at the time it restarts?

A look at the Event Viewer and CSB logs would be a good idea as suggested by DeaconFrost.

Here I just saw the 14316 latest build go on and found that the auto login didn't have to be redone over after first seen to a few builds back. This might a quick fix type solution for the problem being seen there since if you get bumped it would simply automatically sign back onto the main account you have.

The other option to consider would be setting up a total new account and running that to see if the problem clears up on it's own. You could leave that as a standard account or use it as the new admin account to see if some glitch is being seen for the first. It definitely sounds like a system glitch is in there somewhere however and not from any 3rd party cause.
