Hello thanhtb Welcome to the Ten Forums!
In the new Start menu>AllApps section you will find the new "Photos" app is now used to replace the Classic Photo Viewer seen in all previous versions going back to XP, Vista days.
The yellow lines show that is even pinned in the new Metro style tile area as well. The app is open behind that to how it looks with the dark theme selected. And since many do not care for it one bit, yours truly included, fortunately there is a way to see the Classsic Photo Viewer restored in 10! That's the good news seen in the guide for this at Windows Photo Viewer - Restore in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
Depends what you mean. Do you mean
- I can't access a folder/disk/partition containing my photos?
- If I click on an image file it doesn't open?
- something else?
Note that from Win 8 on defaults must be set from Settings, the Control Panel or Open With, not within a program.
thanthb hasn't indicated from which version he upgrade to 10 from. It may as well have been 7 or 8.1 instead of 8. But now he is running 10 where he can either choose the Photos app or see the Classic Windows Photo Viewer restored. If the last is selected then the first trip made is to the Start>Settings>System>Apps & Features section to change the default Photos app to the WPV and then he can go to any folder where photos, pictures, even wallpapers, and/or other image files are stored to then choose the Open with option from the right click menu. From then on a right click to "Preview" any photo or image file will then see the WPV open right up for view.
Agreed- thanhtb may also have expected his original program to open photos, but the default will have changed after the upgrade.. but then should still have been able to open photos with -er- Photos. Original post was imprecise as to exactly what was occurring.. hence my ?
He hasn't replied back yet in order to fill out any more details. So we will now have to wait to see if he went for the WPV restoration or not. Most will likely want the Classic viewer unless they are using a touchscreen tablet or something where the new Photos app would then be the option.
