    Typing, stops and blue circle appears

    Often, usually when typing letters e mail or responding to others, I'm busy typing away, look up and bingo nothing just a small blue circle there spinning away. it eventually stops then I start but not for long..bingo again.

    Hi there, dearelliot. Welcome to the forum.

    I'll assume it's Windows 10 64 bit? A dell tower or laptop? Please post here or fill out your system specs so to help you better.

    Which program are you using when typing? Office? Outlook?

    A spinning circle means the system is busy enough so to use up the resources. You may want to keep Task Manager open to see what it's doing while this occurrence happens. How often does it happen?

    Yes win 10 and 64bit, Tower, and I'm talking about writing long e mails on yahoo, or responding to news etc ...I think I don't know enough to even ask decent questions..Im 82 and I'm slowing down..not that I was ever very good at working a PC. So I may just have to live with these issues . I don't really know what a task manager is. But thank you ..

    Ok. How old is your PC?

    To open Task Manager > Windows Key + X or right click Start Flag > Opens power user menu > Choose Task Manager > There will be a button on the bottom "More details". It should already be on processes tab. How much CPU, Memory, and Disk is it using. It will fluctuate with percentages.

    @dearelliot

    I suspect every now and then it's pagefile.sys that's crippling your system. Also called thrashing:

    You may want to look through this tutorial list, especially #16. Optimize Performance of Windows 10

    You may want to increase memory with more memory strips. This depends on whether your computer is expandable that way. Below is just one source for them. You may also want to check out Dell's site for guidance also.

    You mean just a blue circle in the middle of completely blank screen? What is the color of the blank screen then: all black, all white, something else?

    It seems to have subsided for now, it comes and goes...what I'm trying to explain is when typing, my keyboard stops working, nothing I do ...space type back , nothing works the screen is frozen../what I have typed is there but nothing I do has any effect.. And there is a small blue circle..I liken it to the "beachball" on Macmini..and while the blue circle is there on screen, Its frozen..then after a while it (the blue circle) disappears and I'm back able to use the keyboard.. I think of the blue circle as though the PC is cooking, working on its own trying to gather its thoughts so as to be able to continue Like "WAIT I'm overloaded..WAIT I'm trying to catch up." ..Sorry guys I'm not very good at this.

    That's ok, dearelliot. None of us here are rocket scientists that I know of.

    It is in fact the blue spinning "busy donut". You described what it's doing very well.

    If you want, please push the Windows key + I and select System, then About to get to the screen below. Would you please report what the Processor and the RAM are? We'd get better insight in this.
