boot menu problems with mouse pointer

I have a machine with three partitions of Win 10 Pro installed. When the menu comes up to choose which one, the mouse pointer is not displayed. If I move the mouse around I can eventually highlight a menu selection and boot into it. So the system is working, I just can't see what I'm doing. I can also use the arrow keys and Enter button.

I noticed this problem some time back when installing Win 10 on two of the other partitions. While I still had Win 8.1 as the default boot and I could see the mouse pointer. Last night I changed the last partition to Win 10 and I now have this bug full on.

My machine is fully updated to the latest normal stream of Win 10 Pro. Two of the partitions are 64 bit and one is 32 bit. I also modify the entry names on the boot menu as shown in this tut https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...dows-10-a.html

This is not a high impact bug. If I don't crack the problem here I may eventually take it to Microsoft.

    Any thoughts?

I now have a cause but not a fix. For more details see the other thread on the same subject. My mouse cursor is invisible on the boot menu gui - HELP!

    ... 3 years later

I didn't want to jump-start this ancient thread, but my 1903 in-place upgrade took out my mouse cursor on the boot GUI. Everything I see is the same as the OP posted. I have 2 basic choices on my boot GUI.... go to Win10 or Macrium's boot loader.

Seeing this thread marked as "solved" gave me hope, but that marking seems incorrect.

    Any ideas?

    FWIW I use a wireless mouse .

I was the thread starter. From my perspective it is solved. I have done clean installs on all of my partitions and they all have the mouse pointer in the boot menu. I gave up on trying to get a fix on upgraded systems. MS seemed to not be interested in the problem. I am about to install Win 10 19H1 (or whatever it is called) as an update. I wonder if I will get the bug back.

I removed my wireless mouse, and accepted a touchpad driver update, rebooted and still no joy.

I'm not keen on a clean install, so I'll live with this until a fix magically appears. Except for troubleshooting reboots, I seldom interact with the boot GUI apart from hitting the Return key (if I want to shave seconds off getting to the Desktop).

I usually never see the boot menu. I have the timer on the boot menu set to 0. I changed my machine over to full UEFI and GPT disks. I did this at 1809. Since then I see no boot menu except when I want to change to the non default partition. To get back to the boot menu I use a shortcut with the command C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 0 and to get back to the UEFI menu I use the command C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /f /fw /t 0 There may be other ways to get to those menus but I prefer shortcuts so I don't have to think too much about it.

I currently have no problems with the cursor but based on your experience I could get the problem back with 1903. I'm going to update to 1903 on to my laptop in the next few days. However, it has only one partition. The other machine with multiple partitions will follow in a few weeks.
