Yes. sfc replaces corrupt system files by copying them from the component store. If the file is missing or corrupt in the component store it will fail. You can fix the component store with dism (either over internet or using an image). Then if you run sfc again it should work.

That's why people suggest running sfc, dism, sfc.

The trouble with TP is sfc doesn't work (only because of its preview status presumably).
Thanks! That was always a gray area to me, the correlation...

See post 2. It doesn't work in 10 preview and never has.

There should be a new build this week - I'd install that.
I really don't think this is true, since Brink is trying to help, and if you look at the guide, Brink has put a screenshot up, showing the result of a sfc /scannow result.

Why even make a guide, if it does not work in Windows 10 at all? No, I do believe it should work.

Sorry, Burgurne, I have run the DISM and it repair 3 component store errors, but sfc /scannow still croaks at 2%.

See attached screen shot I just ran.

Perhaps Brink's screenshot was from 8.1 or elsewhere. I have never been able to get SFC to finish on any TP build.

EDIT: Brink's screenshot was from 9860. If I'm not mistaken, the kernel was rewritten in 9926 and this may account for current failure.

Of course it should work but this is a preview and not everything does.

It's been my experience that SFC will always find unrepairable files in Windows 10. I suspect that it's because it's still only a preview build and have many patched system files
You can see here for some of the various ways it hasn't worked in different builds https://social.technet.microsoft.com...7-032bc620e401 - the last reply from MS is to wait...

You could report it here - I just clicked on the "me too".

Even if it does fully run, you still get the message "Windows found corrupt files and couldn`t repair them"

Don`t even worry about it until the final product comes out.

It's a known problem that sfc doesn't work, and has been this way since the first releases.

You can't run in safe mode either, as the start menu won't work in the current incarnation. This will get fixed eventually, but right now not much you can do. You probably just have to re-install.
Thank God i read this coz i was on the verge of throwing my laptop out a Window lol pun intended
