It doesn't do anything to the .wim file. I've checked .wim files with it before and did multiple installs from them afterwards.
That's what I thought? Had to ask though. Weird?

I just installed this image on a VM and for some reason the app "Insider Hub" is included in the image, isn't this app only for insider builds?

MSDN ISO or Media Creation Tool ISO? I know you can install the Insider hub even on the non insider build. I did it on this PC. The one I did the clean install on with the MSDN ISO is sitting in the corner unplugged at the moment. I'll have to hook it all back up to check if the Insider hub was preinstalled. Is your VM install activated? Any watermark showing? What build number is it showing in winver?

I downloaded it from MSDN. The installation is not activated, and there is no watermark. Here is the output from the systeminfo command http://pastebin.com/sCQWiG2B

I want to update my deployment share with this new version of Windows, but I'm somewhat hesitant because of the Insider Hub app.

I just fired up my other PC, Insider Hub is installed. I didn't install it manually so it was either there from the get go, or installed VIA Windows update after I connected it to the internet. That PC is activated with a Digital Entitlement. Install was done with my MSDN ISO. It is not set to receive Insider Builds. Consumer builds only.
On this PC I had to manually install the Insider Hub last week, but I'm not sure if I had uninstalled it after I did the clean install last month. I usually go through the Apps and uninstall a bunch or the pre installed ones I don't use. I don't know if it was preinstalled with the previous ISO or not.

Okay, thank you for investigating. :)

It only took a few minutes to hook it up to my TV. Your post made me curious to find out. I hadn't uninstalled any Apps on that PC. I've been intentionally leaving it with the stock Windows install. All I've done so far is run Windows update on it.
