Why don't you create a new user account and find out if the new account performs as expected ?
Why jump to repair install without trying a much simpler and less time consuming method ?

Because I know the new profile will work, but I currenlty do not have the time to reinstall every single piece of software in that user profile. As far as I know, the only process which is able to keep that, is the in place upgrade.

A repair install will take about 2 to 3 hours unless you have ssd installed.
It's your decision. Choose the path you want.
    Good luck.

Thanks! As long as the in place upgrade reinstall also fixes profile issues. It's much better than spending two days reconfiguring software. :S
